
Brandi Ratliff, 19, bagged her first buck while hunting on her grandparents' land in Calhoun County. The 155-pound buck had a rack with five points and two broken ones, and measured 15-3/4 inches wide. She
shot the deer with a Browning 7mm-08 given to her by her grandmother, Sue Gordon. Brandi is the daughter of Chris and Vicki Ratliff.

Sara Ann Montgomery, 10, killed her first buck on January 30. She was
hunting in Issaquena County with her father, Jerry Montgomery, and stepbrother Gage Laird. The
deer weighed 145 pounds and was shot with a 30-30 Contender from 85 yards away. The 8-point buck had a 13-inch wide rack with 15-inch beams. Sara Ann's parents are Jerry and Speler Montgomery, and Robyn Montgomery.

Vicksburg resident Ken Hall shot this spike on his seventh birthday, January 19, while
hunting with his father Joel in Hinds County. Ken made the 50-yard shot with his .243 rifle. He is the son of Joel and Amanda Hall. What a nice Birthday present!

Lee Hanks, 8, bagged this 8-point
buck while hunting on private land in Warren County. He made the 50-yard shot with a 7mm-08. The buck weighed 145 pounds and had a 12 1/2-inch inside spread. Lee is the Son of Richard and Jeanie Hanks.

Channing cook killed his first
deer on January 18 while
hunting with friends in Tensas Parish, LA. He shot the deer with a 7mm-08 at a distance of 180 yards. He is the son of Stacey Cook.

My great niece Meghan Marbury, 11, shot her first
deer near Eagle Lake on January 8. The 8-pointer weighed 195 pounds. Meghan is the daughter of Jason and my niece and Godchild, Christin Marbury. Way to go Meagan! I know your parents are so proud of you as I am. Congrats to all our young
hunters here in Vicksburg on their deer harvest and the
great wild outdoors.
