A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

What Does She Really Want?

Marian has gone with Bob on a hunting trip and it is going to be cold, cold, cold. Next week they are coming to the famous Christmas Place for a last hunt, but what does she really want? A big buck or a great big old wild hog.
Something about Bob getting his hog has her all stirred up.
She has always been excited about shooting a big buck but recently she has just seemed to glow with the thought of blasting a hog. You know, that wild look like Phillip gets before he heads out and the same crazy eyes that Bob gets.
Mark Stewart gets that look too (it is creepy on him)and I think it may not be safe to be around them when they get it. Even so, if Marian wants pork chops I am going to do my best to help her out. It looks like she has her aiming problem fixed.
