Youngsters On The Hunt

Siblings Cole and Taylor Smith both had successful hunts during the youth weekend.  Tayor, left, bagged an 8-pointer with 19-inch main beams.  Earlier the same day Cole, right, shot an 8-pointer with  20-inch beans.  Both bucks weighed more than 200 pounds.

Laura Regan Logue, 9, killed her first buck while hunting with her father in northwestern Warren County.  She shot the 175 pound buck at 40 yards with a 30-30.  Laura Regan is the daughter of Trey Logue and Tracey Boyd.

Seven-year-old Lexi Douglas killed her first buck on December 19 while hunting at the Kemper County Hunting Club in Scooba.  The buck was a 225-pound 10-pointer.  It was her fourth deer of the season and sixth in her brief hunting career.  Lexi is the daughter of Shea and Shaun Douglas.  She is pictured with her 5-year-old brother, Drake.
Patrick Coccaro, 14, shot this 9-point buck while hunting with his father, John, in northern Warren County.  The 205-pound buck's rack had a 17-1/2 inch inside spread.

I posted this picture last week and had noticed that most of Emily's deer was cut off from her picture.  It was posted again yesterday and corrected.  Emily Phillips, 9, shot this 7-pointeer while hunting with her father in southern Warren County on December 19.  Emily made the 70-yard shot with a .243 rifle.  The deer had a 16-inch inside spread and weighed 180 pounds.  Emily is the daughter of Chad and Zena Phillips.  Pictured with Emily is her father.

Dustin Shirey shot this 105-pound doe on December 17 while hunting with his grandfather Charles Shirey.  Dustin is the son of Jennifer and Tracy Shirey.  My congrats to all our young hunters in our great outdoors!
