A brave little girl!

Casey Frederickson said that her youngest daughter, who is almost 8, joined in on their north Idaho bear hunt yesterday.  She was so excited and so proud of Dad's harvest and volunteered to help do the dirty work. A New York Youth Hunt Successful!

My Facebook friend Todd Imiola's son, Hunter, had a successful New York youth hunt this morning and shot at 6:30 a.m.  It had a 9-5/8" beard, 1-1/8" and 1-1/4" spurs.  A great looking bird and an awesome hunt in our great wild outdoors!  My congrats to a job well done young man!

Todd said that the Primos Power Crystal and Kee Kee striker once again proves to be fatal.  So sweet sounding and hard to resist. It's a well worn call but still killing them!

An Ocellated Turkey Hunt

This is a fantastic hunt says Ryan Bassham (trophy hunter) and one of the best hunting adventures out there.  The ocellated turkey is more commonly found in the Yucatan Peninsula and northern Guatemala.  This part of the country is safe and beautiful.  An awesome opportunity to hunt the same grounds of the ancient Mayan Indians!

My congrats to all the turkey hunters above in our great wild and awesome outdoors!  Such beautiful birds!

Ron's Nice Bird!

My FB friend, Ron French of Cherryville, Oregan, recently got him a very nice bird and I wanted you to read all about it. This is his hunting story ~ My Congrats Ron!

Oregon Spring Turkey season opened last Friday, I decided to wait till after the weekend before going out and trying to find a bird an hour from home.

Left the truck at 5 a.m. and 20 minutes later was hiking passed a patch of timber when a tom erupted off to my right about 50-60 yards. I turned my headlamp off...BUSTED! Then made a big loop and got around and above where the turkey had gobbled. It began getting light so I gave a couple of sleepy clucks and yelps...the bird blasted a gobble back at me. A raven flew over and the turkey gobbled at the raven's sqwalk. Gave him one more series of yelps and set my call down.

10 minutes later I was thinking he had hopped down and skedaddled out the back door...when I caught movement out front and slightly to the left. He came walking up to 30 yards angled out in front of me. Gave him a couple of YELP YELP's with my mouth and he stopped and stretched his noggin for a better look. 6:15 and the hunt was over!

Note:  Two year old bird with 8-8.5" beard and NO spurs at all!

M/V Charles L. Strait Passing Hometown!

Yesterday, while on my way home I stopped by the Louisiana Circle and could see a towboat coming around the bend called Delta Point. Today, I found out that towboat captains are not very fond of Delta Point or the Mississippi River bridges at my hometown of Vicksburg, MS.

I now have an app on my phone call "FINDSHIP" and was able to see the name of the towboat before it reached where I was standing.  Before I knew about the app I had to rely on my camera to zoom in and get the name.  (Click on pictures to enlarge)
