Ornate Wrought Iron Fences

Sunday afternoon Bob and I drove to Cedar Hill Cemetery and went in the entrance off of Lover's Lane. I wanted to take some pictures of the beautiful old tombstones there and notice how pretty the patterns were on the fences around the old family plots. Here are a few that I took that I thought were really unique. Some of these date back to the early 1800's.

These wrought iron fences are interesting. I have been wondering how these fences can be repaired. My mother's family has a very old small family cemetery with fences like these which are probably 150 years old in North Carolina. They were imported from overseas somewhere way back when. Some sections are corroding. The whole thing is not anchored either to prevent theft.

I may visit Cedar Hill and look around and maybe I can come up with some ideas on what to do and visit with some old friends there.

Many of the people I have known in Vicksburg are buried in Cedar Hill cemetery. They were elderly people I used to visit on Sunday's, bringing communion from St. Michael's. Plus I met several nuns at the hospital chapel who have now passed on and are laid to rest out there. I suspect it is where I will end up. That would be okay with me.

Thanks for coming by Charles...

I will most likely at some point go back and take more pictures. It's quiet and peaceful for sure!

The wrought irons are indeed variants into some usual furniture or products carved or made. Without it, a thing is hard to establish its durability.
