Important Early Bow Season Evening Sit Tips

An early bow season evening sit is often where the whitetail magic of early season hunting, takes place. While I often favor morning bowhunting opportunities during any phase of the whitetail rut, evening sits are highly important during the early season, late gun season, muzzleloader season, and late archery seasons. Placing a priority on an early season evening sit can not only offer you the potential for a high degree of whitetail success, but it can keep you from spooking out your property after trying to force a morning to sit, at a time when mature bucks are typically near or already lounging around, their bedding areas.

Archery Deer Season starts tomorrow October 1st in MS.

Buck vs. Nylon Rope

My Facebook friend, Mike Persichini took the picture of a buck with a nylon rope in his antlers.  I love the drop time on this buck.  Pretty impressive in the great outdoors of Michigan.

American Queen Last Wednesday In Vicksburg, MS

The grand American Queen visited my historic civil war town of Vicksburg, MS, on Wednesday, September 15.  She was scheduled to come today but is in Natchez.  She should be here tomorrow, September 25th.

Here are some pictures I took at Fort Hill because she could not turn around in the canal because of low water and had to go towards the Port of Vicksburg to turn around.  I headed back to town and took a video of her passing the waterfront after she had turned around heading for the Mississippi River southbound to Natchez.

Magnificent Buck "Broadway" Dead Of EHD

My Facebook friend, Mike Persichini said that these are not his pictures and were taken by other people. But said he was sad to say that "Broadway" has died from EHD. People have been finding dead deer at the nature center, and it is confirmed they died of EHD in his home state of Michigan.

EHD stands for Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) is a virus that affects domestic and wild hoofed animals. It is transmitted by the bite of a small midge (culicoides) known as “no-see-ums,” gnats, and biting flies smaller than a mosquito. They transmit the virus by biting an infected host and then a susceptible one. And so begins the cycle.

Mike said he is feeling very emotional because he has taken so many photographs of "Broadway" through the years.  I'm so very sorry, Mike to hear this.
