MS Alligator Hunters Land a Monster

Mississippi alligator hunters endured a grueling seven-hour battle with the 802.5-pound giant. See how they landed a record. (Click here)

Tanner White, tag holder Donald Woods, Will Thomas, and Joey Clark harvested the new state record alligator on August 26, measuring 14 feet, three inches.

Congratulations to all the alligator hunters in our wild and great Mississippi outdoors!

American Queen Back In Town Since June 2023

Last Friday, the grand American Queen was back in our historic town, and it was good to see her since she had been up north for almost two months.  She was here from 7:00 am till 6:00 pm.  As you can see, the Yazoo Diversion Canal is pretty low, and the Mississippi River stage is at 15.99 feet, with the flood stage at 43 feet.  Vicksburg:  The Key To The South!

An Inviting Chair Bringing Back Memories

 

An inviting chair brings back many memories of just sitting on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is a hunting camp that I used to hunt at called Browns's Point on Kings Point Island, north of my hometown of Vicksburg, MS. I missed those days and all my hunting buddies. 

My Shadow On A Tree Deer Hunting

I took this picture of my shadow on my deer stand back in the mid 80's while the sun was shining on a tree beside me. This was at Jasper Bottom Hunting Club in Claiborne County and 50 yards from the Big Black River.  What an awesome picture to remember so long ago when I first started hunting 37 years ago.  

My Very First Deer Stand

 

This is the very first deer stand built for me at Jasper Bottom Hunting Club in Claiborne County. A sign hanging on my stand says...Marian's Hunting Territory 11-22-86. I was only 50 yards from the Big Black River and the beginning of deer hunting that has lasted 37 years and counting in our great Mississippi outdoors! + 2 hogs  

(On one of my hunts, I had a deer walking near the edge of the Big Black heading towards me, and a fisherman came along flying down the river and messed up my hunt. Lucky deer)

A Butterfly Shadow

I took these two pictures of a butterfly while sitting on my patio enjoying some cooler weather today.  I love the shadow effects and got the butterfly taking off.  I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did taking the pictures.  Nature is lovely in our great Mississippi outdoors!
