Steve sent me this email the other day on square watermelons and thought I would share it with you, if you have not seen it already. We know that round watermelons can take up a lot of room in a refrigerator and usually round fruit often sits awkwardly on refrigerator shelves. Some smart Japanese farmers have forced their watermelons to grow into a square shape by inserting the melons into square, tempered glass cases while the fruit is still growing on the vine. I would say this is Charming, Just Charming!
That is very odd indeed. I wonder if that has anything to do with trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. :)
ReplyDeleteCould be Rick! :)
ReplyDeleteVery strange, but practical
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything like it. At first I thought they were genetically engineered. It's cool that they just put them in a square box.
ReplyDeleteWho'd a thunk it! Makes sense, I guess.
