This tombstone was leaning forward.
Angel statue was holding real wilted roses.
Yesterday, after Bob and I visited my brother in the hospital, we drove through the
Vicksburg National Military Park. I had my camera with me and decided to pull over and entered the
Anshe Chesed Cemetery, which borders west of the Park, to take some pictures of beautiful old weathered tombstones. On the entrance plaque above, it says this is the second
Jewish Cemetery and that the first one has never been determined. The first burial was that of Meyer Meyer who died on May 16, 1865. Here are a few snapshots that I took of this well manicured old cemetery.
Old cemetery's hold a lot of interesting history, but frankly they give me the creeps and I rather walk around them then though them.

I understand your feelings Othmar. The only thing that gave me the creeps while there was an opened grave for burial this morning with a canopy over it. The lady's body was being sent from Memphis, TN, for burial according to the newspaper. Other than that, I enjoyed walking through and taking pictures. This way you can see the beautiful tombstones and I did it for you! Thanks for coming by...it is always a pleasure my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteMy wife is the same, she too likes taking images of old houses and graveyards. It's very interesting but like I said my feelings are mixed when I visit these places.
