Vicksburg On The Hunt

Vicksburg resident Dwayne Wyatt bagged this 12-point, 250-pound buck at Wyatt's Hunting Camp.  He took it down with a .30-06 rifle from a distance of 100 yards.

Vicksburg resident Zane Flaharty killed a pair of deer this season.  He got this 150-pounder while hunting with his grandfather, Steve Reed, near Long Lake.

Spencer Davis, 11, bagged this 115-pound spike buck on Thanksgiving morning in Bovina.  It was his first buck, and only the second time he had fired a gun.  He made the 70-yard shot with a .243 Marlin rifle.  Spencer is the son of Cary and Donald Davis of Monroe, LA., and the grandson of Gene and Francis Jowres of Vicksburg.

Seven-year-old Vicksburg resident Carter Magee took this 10-pointer for his first buck.  He shot the deer, his third of the season, with a .243 rifle from a distance of 80 yards while hunting on private land in Yazoo County on December 12.  Carter is the son of Kevin and Beth Magee of Vicksburg.

Chance Williams' first deer was this 6-pointer.  He shot it on private land in southern Warren County while hunting with his father, Chad, on November 6.

Layne Tedder, 13, shot this 11-point buck on November 25.  It had a 16-inch main beam and scored 143.25 Boone and Crockett points.  My congrats to all the young hunters and Dwayne with his very nice 12-point buck taken in our great wild outdoors!
