This past Sunday we spent most of the afternoon riding around taking pictures and this particularly one was at the Vicksburg Riverfront Park. About 12 turtles were soaking up the sunshine on a floating log near the park's edge.
An egret on a floating piece of wood.
A beautiful scenic spot to sit and watch the river traffic. Note the trees to the right underwater. The place was packed with people looking at the swollen river.
The Jay Luhr towboat making its way under the bridges with a heavy load of riprap (rocks) for streambank protection.
At the turn-a-round at the park you can see part of the DIAMOND JACKS Hotel at the waters edge. The opposite end of the Casino is partially under water.
Barricades were set up here at RIVERWALK Casino where the Mighty MS was right at the walkway.
This was not underwater last week at RAINBOW Casino and Hotel. If you look back at my former posts you can see the geese were near the tree line in the distanced...
...now it's almost to the road.
As we head back home Sunday we passed by the overlook and a towboat with it's load was slowly making it's way upstream. Downstream the towboats move very fast with the help of the flood current.
Absolutely incredible! I've seen my orders for outdoor gear drop off like clockwork following the floodwater down river! Its just consuming this part of the world right now. Hopefully it dries out soon!

Those turtles were certainly getting some help getting from one place to another.
ReplyDeleteSo many people and animals have been displaced. Hope today will get the crest over and done at Vicksburg.
