Cross Ties Removal

The extension (cross ties) built to the Vicksburg's flood wall came down this past week in an effort to restart rail traffic that had been stopped for a month due to flooding.  It's also a truck route but for now trucks are still being re-routed through town. While the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley RR Station Depot is drying out and renovations have continued, construction has also resumed on the Motor Vessel Mississippi that is sitting on land right here in town.  It will be called the Lower MS River Museum and Riverfront Interpretive Center, and is partially shown in the background.
