This afternoon I took off and went down to my granddaughter and her husband's land to hunt south of town. The temps were in the mid-40's and got on my stand around 3:15. It has been awhile since I have had a chance to go hunting and was glad to get out of the house to go. Only saw two yearlings walk out between 5:10 and 5:15 and enjoyed watching them. Also, the owls, squirrels playing and barking and the birds singing their hearts out. I also had a small stream running by my stand and was nice to hear the water trickling along. An 8 point and a couple of does have been taken off of this stand this season. Our hunting season will be over with by the end of January 2013. My husband and I have been invited to hunt at the famous
Christmas Place Plantation and Hunting Club with my blogging friend/mentor and his family soon. We are looking forward to our hunting trip and hopefully harvest a deer and maybe a hog or two. Below are a few pictures I took while on my stand today.
Yearlings came out at the far end of the road and walked from left to right..

Great that you been out!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the post from your next hunting.
Happy New Year!
That looks like a beautiful place to hunt. Sure wish I was there with you. As for me my season is over with no tags filed but there is always next season and I was as usual happy to get out anyway.
ReplyDeleteYes, it helped to get away for an afternoon hunt. I'm looking forward to my next hunt also. Nothing like being in nature and enjoying the adventures and sites!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Lindsjo taxar! :)
Thanks Rick for coming by. Wish you were here also and especially up at the Christmas Place...it is like paradise there. Sorry your season is over with and you did not get a deer. Maybe next season you will get lucky! You know...just being in the woods is luck enough.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year my friend. Take care of yourself and maybe 2013 will be good to all of us! :)
Very nice location. Half of deer hunting is just the time you get to spend outside waiting for them to show-up. Wishing you and Bob success during your hunting trip to Christmas Place.
ReplyDeleteThanks CD Gardens...you are right about spending time outside waiting. Always an adventure.
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to seeing Rex and his family and hunting at the famous Christmas Place. It's always a pleasure to go there. They really make you feel so welcome! :) PS: Good people!
