Robin's (a.k.a. Ms. Grit) hunting story in her own words...
I usually try to hold myself to 8 points or better, as good as or better than my last buck and if I need meat, I'll shoot a doe. However, I've had no mature does in front of me in over 2 months until yesterday when my muzzle loader miss-fired. Mike (my son) is coming home from college for Christmas break next week and wants every kind of venison meal you can imagine and my venison freezer is down to several packages of chop meat, 2 packages of sausage and a few back-straps, so when this guy stepped in front of me yesterday afternoon, my thoughts were simple, FILL THE FREEZER!! With a double lung shot, from my muzzle loader, he went 80 yards into the thickest, nastiest multi-flora you could imagine, crossing 2 small streams and if it weren't for help, I never would have found him or gotten him out of there as there wasn't a drop of blood found until the spot where he expired, but I heard him crash, so I had a general idea of where to search. It feels good to have the monkey off my back and the curse broken! :) Robin, how well all hunters can agree on your last statement! My congrats to you on getting your deer in our great wild outdoors!
How I know the feeling of needing to break the curse! Congrats on a nice freezer filler!
