Riverboats Back In Town!

The American Queen and the Queen of the Mississippi returned again today for a full day for their passengers to tour our historical civil war town of Vicksburg, MS.  Yesterday, America, showed up for a half-a-day with her passengers.  It is an awesome site to see all the riverboats at our waterfront.  Here are a few pictures I took this morning for you to enjoy.

Two of the three AQ buses taking riverboat passengers around town and to the Vicksburg National Military Park, Old Courthouse Museum, historic homes and other points of interest.

Queen of the Mississippi!

The American Queen docked this morning.  Noticed one the trees already underwater.

Looking back at the Queen of the Mississippi at a different angle this morning.

American Queen had to unload her passengers further down the waterfront.  Electric carts were also used to accommodate passengers to and from the buses that could not walk very far.

With the Mighty Mississippi on the rise and almost at flood stage, the boats are riding high above the Vicksburg Riverfront Murals on the floodwall in the Yazoo Diversion Canal.  Flooding will be north and south of town and it has been predicted to crest here on May 18th at 46 feet.  Today, the river level is 42.23 feet, change +1.04 foot with flood stage at 43 feet.

City employees unloading wooden planks just in case they need to close the Exit and/or Entrance.  Queen of Mississippi peeking up over the Vicksburg Riverfront Murals on the floodwall.
