Mississippi River Above Flood Stage @ Vicksburg, MS

I went by the Louisiana Circle yesterday to take pictures of the swollen Mississippi River at Vicksburg looking towards Delta Point in the curve of the MS River.  You can also see the WaterView Casino/Hotel and the entrance to the Yazoo Diversion Canal and the Port of Vicksburg.

This is looking towards the bridges at Vicksburg.  Today's plot forecast of the MS River is 47.97 ft. with a -0.18ft drop.  Tomorrow's forecast is 47.50 ft.  This time last year the river stage was 50.59 ft.  The flood stage is 43 feet.

"Running the Gauntlet" information at the Louisiana Circle overlooking the MS River of our historic civil war town of Vicksburg:  The Key To The South!

This is looking down towards the Vicksburg Riverfront Park which has been closed because of the hill sliding into the MS River from all the recent rains almost every week.

The picture was taken from the side top stairs of the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum of the riverboat "America" making her debut for the first time this year.

America will return next Thursday, March 12th with the American Harmony cruise ship.

A truck passing by on Levee Street which is a truck route to bypassed Washington Street, the main street running through town.

This picture was taken looking down towards the Catfish Row Children's Art Park. You can also see the Vicksburg Riverfront Murals on the floodwall.  America is moored in the Yazoo Diversion Canal for a full day of sightseeing for her passengers.
