It's My Birthday Today!

I received this pretty wildlife Birthday Card from my deer classmate, Kay, who lives in California and wanted to share it with you on my special day!  It says ~

What do you know?
Another birthday is here...
What else can we say but,
Oh deer, oh deer, oh deer!"

The name of the picture on the card is named, "Deer and Pines" by Joe Hautman.  Joseph Hautman was born into a family of artists and was instilled early with a love of nature.  He studied art at the University of Minnesota, but switched to physics and eventually received a doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Michigan.  Well into a career in research, Joe was encouraged by two of his brothers, who are wildlife artists, to go back to his early interest in painting.  He decided to compete in the prestigious Federal Duck Stamp competition and, after winning, retired from his scientific career to paint full time.  His richly detailed and impeccably accurate wildlife paintings are a meld of his scientific mind with his creative and artistic skills.  (Leanin' Tree)
