While I was out yesterday running errands, I decided to go by the Louisiana Overlook to see if there was any river traffic and it looked like I had just missed this one going north. I thought it was moving but was just sitting there and most likely waiting for grocery supplies, etc.
When I looked south towards the bridges a very dark cloud was forming. In fact, we were under a tornado watch for the afternoon and evening but came through just fine.
I was lucky to see a boat making it's way north as I pulled up and got out to take this picture of the "City of New Orleans" towboat. It was not pushing barges...not sure what it was...but it looked like a working platform of some kind.
A scenic view of the City of New Orleans getting closer to the turn in the bend of the MS River.
I zoomed in to let you see how choppy the MS River was with the wind blowing so hard yesterday.
It has been so unseasonably warm lately that the Japanese Magnolia trees are in bloom. Yesterday it was 73 degrees in the middle of winter! This house is located on Drummond Street, not far from our home.
Also, our Japanese Magnolia tree in front of our home is putting out blooms. It's crazy weather for sure!
Your photographs are really nice. The tree monkeys are cute too.

The river pictures are always appreciated. I bet those dark clouds were a cause for concern for a time. Those are beautiful magnolia blooms even if they got a little confused about when they are supposed to make their appearance. This winter certainly has brought some different weather than we have seen in the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteThanks papel1 and CDGardens - I love taking pix of the riverboats and the river and is a changing scenery. We are suppose to have temps in the mid-twenties for two night so it may kill the blooms...just have to wait and see what happens! It's hard to believe that winter is over with. Usually, February is our worse month and it has snowed in March here. :)
