Hog #151 & #15 For Year
Another story to tell from my Facebook friend, Kareen Beinhauer, who is the "Hog Killing Queen" of Alpine, Texas. Hog No. 151 and 15th for the year!
I have an interesting story about last night. I walked to sit out at the storage feeders by 9:09 p.m. Nothing showed up but one fox, one coon and one doe who came in twice. I came in by 11:45 but stayed up and was watching TV. At 1:00 a.m. I decided to walk around the corner to check out the storage feeders. I had hung up some motion sensor lights so I knew if they were on there would definitely be something there. Sure enough, there were 4 hogs (medium sized) that I have seen before on the game card. I stopped at the storage trailer since the moon was full as I did not want them to see me. I shot at the spotted one in the group and I swear I could hear the bullet hit meat. Roy has always told me about this but I have never been able to hear it. They all ran off so I went back in and went to bed. The dogs that were outside barked all night long and I was pretty sure it was because of hogs at the storage feeder. About 5:00 a.m. I decided to check it out. Put on my housecoat and flip-flops and walked towards the storage feeder. Sure enough, I could see two hogs. Again, I stopped by the storage trailer which is about 70 yards away and shot at a good sized hog. I did not go look but this morning when Roy and I walked to the storage feeders there he was. A fat boar that had dropped where I shot him. Makes #151 total and 15 for the year. Will have to watch for buzzards to see if I got Spot or not. This makes me very happy as I do not shoot from this distance.
My congratulations to the Hog Killing Queen in our great wild Texas outdoors. I'm so proud of you, Kareen!

The Deer Song
''The Deer Song'' was written in dedication to all my fellow outdoorsmen. There's nothing like the feeling of landing that monster buck you've always dreamed about. And can they ever be too big?! Well, happy hunting and always remember to be safe! Thanks to all and I hope you enjoy. -Tanner

A Monster Hog!
A 387-pound boar was bayed and caught in Clarke County last Saturday morning by Nick Howell of Quitman, MS, and buddies.
Dogs were brought in from around Poplarville for hunting and they did a fine job stopping this monster.
Finally, it's in the ranger!
My congratulations to all involved in killing this nasty monster hog in our great wild Mississippi outdoors. Way to go guys!

Happy Birthday To Emma! Happy Birthday To You!
Emma is turning 11 years old today! This picture of Emma was taken in the Richmond, VA airport after my daughter, Kathy, Granddaughter Lucy and myself arrived to spend time with family 6 years ago. Kathy gave her the Happy Birthday Bear and she brought Mississippi Bear to the airport to greet me. I got Emma the MS Bear on my last visit. She is spending her birthday with her Mom, Dad and sister, Kate on a beach in North Carolina. Hope the rain will stay away so they can all enjoy her BIG day. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Emma and Gran Gran loves you so very much! Sending lots of kisses and hugs your way! Can't wait to see you next month when you, your sister, Mom, and Dad come visiting family in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Going Hog Wild In MS!
David "Yawt Yawt" Ellis of West Point, MS saw a lot of hogs in one spot and didn't know until he checked his camera. Within two nights 20 hogs were killed with his buddy, Harlow. He said he put so much "hog shine" out that the meat may taste like the bottle smells. SWEET! He's looking forward to eating pork on pork and it's a wrap for this spot. My congrats to David with Harlow killing seven of the hogs in our great wild Mississippi outdoors. Way to go guys! It's time for a BIG bar-be-que!

90 In 4
Johnny Rainey of Duck Hill, Mississippi with his wife and daughter went to the Grenada Lake Spillway and caught 90 catfish within 4 hours. He had fun baiting hooks and taking off fish that they caught. Baby shad bait was used. What a very nice haul for the family. I'm sure they will have a big fish fry soon. Nothing like the great Mississippi outdoors!

A Big Male Coyote Trapped
Mike Shell from Brookhaven, MS is coyote trapping in this heat but well worth it even though its tough. This is number 27 removed from the farm and what a big male. The best trick is watching YouTube of videos on trapping (below) using dirt hole sets. That's the most common coyote set. The coyote plus the hog population are out of control here in Mississippi. He sells the Coyotes for $75.00. Keep trapping in our great wild Mississippi outdoors, Mike!

This Little Guy Got His First Deer Back!
Hollis White of McComb, MS is so excited about his son getting his very first deer back from the taxidermy. He said he was just as happy as the day he killed it. It didn't matter what it was...it was going on the wall. Hollis said he was sitting in his lap when he shot his .30-06. He has since got a gun he can shoot.
Ricky Brister above of Brister's Taxidermy did his deer and Hollis said he did a really good job.
Congratulations to this little guy and best wishes on his future hunts. Thanks Dad for taking him hunting in our great wild and wonderful Mississippi outdoors!

A Much Needed Win For Chuck!
Chuck Pester of Panama City, Florida finally got a much-needed win when he killed a hog recently. You can tell that he's thankful!
Which one really pulled the trigger?
Chuck, the owner at Triple F Outdoors, said that his rifle would hurt the seven-year-old boy almost as bad as the hog. Congrats to both of you in our great wild Florida outdoors! Some good eating awaits!
