A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

Heading for Delta Point

Around 11:15 yesterday morning on my way home I took pictures of M/V Arlene making her way northbound towards the bend in the Mississippi River called Delta Point.

Close-up of M/V Arlene.

Her destination was Lake Charles, LA.

Was carrying hazardous category B material according to FINDSHIP.

Coming up on Delta Point at my hometown of Vicksburg, MS on a very hot and humid day in the south!

Same sort of weather here, different location (though yours may be hotter).

It was 103 degrees when I got in my GMC Sierra truck when I left town from being at the Senior Center. What makes it worse is that my air-conditioner is not working right and a storm was coming...so the wind was blowing a lot of hot air but by the time I got home it was 83 degrees. It cooled down real quick! Best part I beat the rain storm. :)
