A 12-Hour Trip To Kansas

Here are a few pictures I took on our way to stay overnight at the Holiday Inn in Overland Park, Kansas, which took 12 hours.

Road Trip To North Dakota To See My Great Grandson


My two daughters, Debra and Theresa, and I took off on Thursday, June 17th for a two-day road trip to see my 5th Great Grandson, Asher who was born on May 8th.  Asher lives with his new Dad, Ethan (my grandson), and his Mom (Caitlynn) at the Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota.  It was a long 12-hour drive halfway to Overland Park, Kansas, and then another 12 hours to the base.  I will be posting pictures of our trip and where we stayed on the base for a week.  (Crossing over the Mississippi River at Vicksburg, Mississippi towards Tallulah, Louisiana)

Our New Miss Mississippi 2021


Holly Brand, Miss Golden Triangle has been crowned Miss Mississippi, last Saturday night in my hometown of Vicksburg, MS.  She won the Red Carpet phase, formerly evening wear, of the competition, and a $400 scholarship.  Brand previously won Talent on Wednesday night, and a $500 scholarship, making her a double preliminary winner.

Holly's hometown is Meridian, MS, and her talent was Vocal.  She attended the University of Alabama.  Her ambition is Communication Studies.  

Social Impact Initiative/Description:  Volunteerism/advocating for the importance of community service by tackling relevant community concerns and working to find solutions while encouraging others to do the same.

Riverboat "Queen of The Mississippi" In Town!


Riverboat, “Queen of the Mississippi ''moored in the Yazoo Diversion Canal yesterday and today while her passengers tour our historic civil war town. She was southbound at 12:30 today.  You can also see the beautiful Vicksburg Riverfront Murals that capture the City of Vicksburg’s past, present, and future roles in American history, commerce, culture, religion, and technology. The picture was taken looking down at Catfish Row Children's Art Park. Riverboats, "American Jazz" will return on June 17th, and “America'' on June 18th. Vicksburg: The Key To The South!

Happy Birthday Ethan & One-Month-Old Asher


My Grandson, Michael “Ethan” Kelly, celebrated his 27th birthday yesterday with his one-month-old son, Asher (my 5th great-grandson). His wife, Caitlynn, took these cute pictures of them today. Ethan is in the U. S. Air Force stationed at Grand Forks, ND.

Queen Of The Mississippi Spending The Night, Etc., Etc.


Sharing some pictures I took of the riverboat Queen of the Mississippi last Sunday at sunset. She was moored overnight. Today the cruise ship American Jazz, and riverboat American Countess will be here, and Friday, America. American Jazz will return on Monday, June 7th. On June 9th, the American Queen (for the first time this year), with the Queen of the Mississippi is scheduled to be here and tour our historic town of Vicksburg, MS. (Update) American Queen will not cruise until August.
