A Doe Checking Deer Blind

Jason Tiedemann of Antigo, WI, and his wife was finishing up his deer blind the other day when this little doe came out of the blue and snuck up on them while they were painting.  She jumped right in his deer blind and then walk off somewhere else.  He said, I never🦌saw anything like this in my life!

Most likely the doe's mom got hit by a car and he's thinking it's last year's fawn.  She stuck around for about an hour and then she was gone.  He hasn't seen her since.  What an awesome experience in our great wild and wonderful outdoors!

Great Grandson Noah Dressing Himself

The other day my Granddaughter Lucy posted this picture of Noah on Facebook, who will be 2 years old in September with his oldest brother, William David "Will" only being a year and day apart.  She said she did not appreciate Noah dressing like he's grown.  I think he did a great job and looks like he will be very independent.  Way to go Noah!  Great Gran Gran loves you so much and I'm so proud of you!  xoxo

Some Splash Pad Fun @ Art Park

I took these pictures a week ago of children playing on the splash pad at the Children's Art Park At Catfish Row in my hometown of Vicksburg, MS.  It was a really hot afternoon and the kids, with their parents watching, were having so much fun.  I wished when I was little we had something like this to go to.  We only had a green garden hose but it worked out just as fine.

While the children were playing you can see M/V Kathy Azlin making her way in the Yazoo Diversion Canal from the Mississippi River to the Port of Vicksburg to dropped off a load.

Wild Deer Walk-Up

Another deer friend in the local forest preserves ~woods. It took me some time to do this and is a very relaxing past time for me walking and spending time within the area. I have to say it's pretty amazing to walk up to a wild deer and it does not get up and still touch ~ pet it like a "pet".This is in Chicago city limits. The deer is NOT INJURED~ It is used to and trusts me after much time spent within the herd just chilling in the woods.
I post this and other "like" videos to simply show one can connect with animals and nature. Just like the people that have pet bears, lions, tigers whatever animal it may be, animals can get used to humans be it from birth or in the wild. Whether it is good or bad, it happens and for me "I enjoy it" and that's all I'm trying to share with everyone. Thanks !!!!

Flag Day Pictures @ Mississippi River

Yesterday was Flag Day and I decided to go to the Mississippi Welcome Center to take a picture of the sun setting on the Mississippi River in my hometown of Vicksburg, MS.  I just happened to get a mockingbird sitting on top of the lamp post with the U.S. Flag blowing in the breeze on the old Vicksburg Bridge.

M/V Joanne Stegbauer making her way southbound as the sun was getting ready to set.

The mockingbird came back and got on top of the lamp post!

Legendary Whitetail Deer Goes Down with Crossbow (Pincushion)

This is the legendary deer known as Pincushion. He is not a giant, but he is the toughest and most allusive deer that has ever roamed this county He was shot twice before in the previous 2 seasons and survived but became very hard to find. Wade finally gets his chance at old Pincushion and makes a great shot with his TenPoint crossbow and the rest is history.

Mountain View Wildlife Rehabilitation

People that call us and are concerned whether or not they should bring the found fawn in can look at this. My very first question is to look at the ears. Are they straight? Or are they crumpled?

If straight, was the deer laying down or standing up?
This year every deer we have taken in has looked like this. The ears are crumpled and the deer was standing up and crying.
The crumpled ear tips mean that the fawn is dehydrated and mom is gone.
The baby needs help!!!
🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
If you are EVER in question about whether or not you need to help the baby, this is the answer.
If you find one with these crumpled ears, get that baby help!
We always advise if you get the fawn and can’t get it to a rehabilitation facility right away, NEVER feed the fawn ANYTHING but unflavored Pedialyte.
We use special kinds of milk made specific for deer and anything else may be proved fatal or create more issues.
As always please donate to your rehab facility as rehabilitation specialists are not paid.
We run strictly on donations or what we pay out of pocket.
