Sunday Drive To Grand Gulf Park Continued...

I posted Monday and Tuesday about my Sunday drive to Grand Gulf Park and here are the last of the pictures I took.

After Johnette and I drove through the Grand Gulf Military Park we saw a fishing camp down the road. Not sure the name of the fish camp but it looks like a lot of fun to belong to.  No one was around because more than likely the fishermen were in the woods hunting in our great wild and wonderful outdoors.

Nice camper and love our flag on the pole.

Sunday Drive to Grand Gulf Park Continued...

I posted yesterday about my Sunday drive to Grand Gulf Park and have some more pictures to share with you today.

The observation tower across from the Old Grand Gulf Cemetery.

You could drive around the observation tower. I wish I was able to climb the tower but having a scheduled knee replacement next month was not a good idea. Maybe next time.

Moss was hanging on most of the trees.

This little squirrel ran out in front of us and would not to let us go by.

Travel across the park and went down the River Road and saw M/V Dennis Ross heading northbound.

Close up of M/V Dennis Ross.

A picture of how pretty is was on this Sunday afternoon at the MS River.

Facing Louisiana!

Johnette waiting for me while I took pictures at the Mississippi River at Grand Gulf.

The supply depot.  Note the water marks on the doors.  Part of the Grand Gulf Park and this building went underwater in the 2011 MS flood.

A close up of a broken window at the depot store.

Some pretty wildflower along the way to the fish camp.
To be continued.

A Sunday Drive to Grand Gulf Park

Yesterday, I took a Sunday drive to Grand Gulf Military Park with my friend, Johnette.  It was a beautiful day for a road trip and we had a good time.  I've been there before but it was about 20 years ago.  It's called the Grand Gulf Military Monument which is located at Port Gibson, MS. We toured the museum, dogtrot house with water mill, a church, cemetery, rifle pits, observation tower (did not climb up in it), gun emplacements, campgrounds with a pavilion and restrooms. We did not get to go through the carriage house which was located next to the museum.

Afterwards, we drove across from the park onto the River Road and ended up at the Mighty Mississippi River.  Just missed M/V Dennis Ross making his way northbound and eventually passing our hometown of Vicksburg, MS.

Below are some pictures I took and have more to share with you in the next two days.  So please come back and check it out.

Looking out the window of the water wheel/mill house. A shadow of Johnette standing on the side deck looking at the green murky water.

Congratulations, Luke!

#Beatybuck

Tyler Beaty of New Albany, MS, killed this monster buck over the weekend near Keownville.  He said he had made a bad shot placement on him and let him sit for a few hours.  This is why he looks different and stiff when the picture was taken.

My congrats to Tyler on a fine buck in our great Mississippi outdoors!

The Conyers Monster Buck

On September 28th I posted about "Oz Land Dreams" of a monster buck seen on a trail cam on Joe and Suzy Conyers Kansas property.  She said, "To be able to touch "the one that got away"...wow just wow...I wish I could quit staring at him."  Congratulations to her hubby Joe who finally got him recently in our great wild and wonderful outdoors!

Monster 20 pt. buck was 7.5 years old and 354 live weight.
MADUSA has a green gross score! Scored it 3 times and had a pro help me with the non-typical side!

Joe has been hunting for 35 years now and it finally paid off and got the one of his dreams!

Exposed To Hunting

This little cutie is the Granddaughter of Van Gerald Johnston of Summit, MS.  He said he is getting her exposed to hunting in our great wild outdoors.  By the look and smile on her face, I think she is enjoying it and who knows, one day she will be a hunter!

First Deer!

Cohn Livingston of Brandon, MS, is so proud of his little 8-year old daughter getting her first deer recently.  She stuck it but could not find it.  It was eventually found by Jay Leggett and his blood trailing dogs. He said, "It's nice to recover someone's class buck but it's better when you can track and find a little girl's very first deer."  I'm glad they made the impossible situation possible.

My congrats to this cute little hunter and her father who is parenting the right way.  Love the bloody face and is officially a hunter now and feeding her family.  Wishing her many more hunts to come in our great wild and wonderful Mississippi outdoors.
