A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

A Close Hog Kill

While we are still on the subject of hogs....a friend sent me this short video Sunday of an up close and personal hog kill. This hunter was pretty lucky the way it ended up...

That certainly was an adrenaline rush and close call. Glad it turned out for the hunter to provide meat for his family.

Looked like a case of self defense to me.

Yikes! we lose more hunters that way.

Editor...don't want to be that close to my hog when I shoot it!

JDP he was a lucky hunter that's for sure.

Cdgardens...imagine his family is grateful that he did not get killed.

Thanks for all your comments! :)

Now that's hunting...not like the "hog solution" you posted previously! Or the night scope video currently circulating. One-on-one is the way it's meant to be.

That's cool. I wonder if he had to clean his shorts? I've always heard that the hogs will attack you and are dangerous, but I think they're mostly blind and are just tryin' to get away. Friggin' thing is huge though.
