Cloe's First Deer

Vicksburg resident Cloe McGowan, 11, killed her first deer Nov. 22 while hunting with her Uncle Paul Powers. McGowan arrived in the stand on family land in Hinds County late in the afternoon and saw more than a half-dozen deer before taking this 4-pointer. She took a shot at an 8-pointer but missed, and then moments later the 4-pointer trotted into the food plot.

“The deer jumped back and a big clob of dirt came up,” Cloe said of taking her shot. “I really like hunting now!”

Cloe is the daughter of Mark and Callie McGowan, and the granddaughter of Ronnie and Linda McGowan.

I used to work with grandmother Linda McGowan at the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.  I'm so proud of Cloe and I know her grandparents are as well.  My congrats to Cloe in her first deer in our great outdoors!
