This past Tuesday I was contacted by Dayne Shuda about putting together a new post for his blog, DayneShuda on Hunting Business Marketing, entitled '10 Examples of Remarkable Hunting Blog Posts'. Happy Birthday Greg

For Greg, my step-son's 42nd Birthday today, I wanted to post one of his trophy 8-point bucks that was taken south of Vicksburg, near Carpenter, MS in December 2000. He was the guest of a hunting buddy/friend, Billy Boykin and used his in-line muzzle loader. It weighed 255 lbs. and the antlers had an inside spread of 25 inches. This buck scored 131 on the Boone and Crockett. Your Dad and I want wish you a very Happy 42st Birthday today and may you have many more to come. We love you!

Want to wish everyone a very Happy and Blessed Easter!

I had a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon with my family at my granddaughter, Victoria's home. She had a hamburger/hot dog cookout with an Easter egg hunt for the little ones. Got to visit with both my great grandsons and was a very pleasant day. This Easter Sunday we are having rain storms and a tornado watch till 9:00 tonight.

Just Piddlin'

Lloyd Murrah heads to his car downtown on Washington Street this past Wednesday with his wife, Edna, as they and four other Ford Model A owners toured the area in their autos built between 1928 and 1931. The five are members of the Alabama Ramblin’ A’s. Murrah is from Iuka, and the others are from Birmingham, Ala. They were in Jackson and Canton on Tuesday and planned to visit Port Gibson the next day. “We’re just piddlin’ around,” Murrah said.

I just love these old cars. I have driven in an old Model T Ford while visiting family in Cape Girardeau, MO, years ago. My cousin, Bill, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee has it now and affectionately calls it, Leaping Lizzie. Last year when the prices of gasoline was so high he would leave his SUV at home and drive old Lizzie to work. I just love the sound of the horn. Charming, Just Charming!

Stock Feeder/Tank Surprise!

Rex sent me these images that someone had sent him of a motion detector camera that was posted at a feeder/tank to see what was going on. Look at what shows up at a stock tank in dry weather that was taken south of Texas! Check out the sequence of images at the water tank and who got caught on camera. Amazing!

Pretty Anniversary Flowers

Yesterday, I went by Tina's Flowers & Gifts to picked up the bouquet of flowers that we had won on Radio Station, River 101, for our 21st Wedding Anniversary last Friday. It was a beautiful arrangement and had never seen roses like these...where the outside petals are white. We also won a dinner for two at Cedar Grove Mansion and I thought they had said it was at the Horizon Casino. This was a nice surprise when I went by the station to pick up the certificates. They also gave us a night stay a Diamond Jacks Casino/Hotel. It is really nice package that they give away every Friday to anniversary couples. I know we will enjoy all our gifts! Charming, Just Charming!

My Youngest Granddaughter

Emma is the youngest of five of my granddaughters and lives in Fredericksburg, VA. Her Mom, Suzi, sent me some pictures of her last week. She is growing up so fast and will be coming to Vicksburg in July with her Dad and Mom to her Dad's high school reunion. She will be 2 years old in July. My daughter is so good about sending pictures so I can see how she is growing. I talk to her on the phone and is saying a lot of words now. She's getting to be such a big girl! I can't wait to see her. She is a sweetthing!

OBS's New Home

Our Outdoor Bloggers Summit (OBS) site has moved to a new home as of April 2, 2009. I am one of the seven founding members and I’m so proud to represent this fine organization. Please take the time to drop by and check us out. As Kristine said, it will probably always be a work in progress. They are working on a new OBS badge and logo and she said to just leave your old badges on for now. Again, I want to thank Kristine for making our new site so easy to navigate and to Steve of Vanseodesign who designed the site and made the move to our new home an easy task for Kristine. My sincere thanks to both of them for all their hard work. Kudos!

Blooming Flowers

Our azalea bush is in full bloom now and looks spectacular!

In our backyard we have these pretty purple flowers. Do not know the name of them. They were here when we moved into our home back in April 1991. I have really enjoyed them every year since.

Last year I received a lily for Easter and potted it in a big container in the backyard. It want be long and I will have a beautiful Easter lily blooming.

Lucy with her best friend Kelsey. Kelsey harvested her first buck this past season. I will try and get a picture up of her with her deer. Congrats Kelsey! Lucy is 11 and will be 12 in September. Kelsey is 13 years old.

I just got back home from watching my granddaughter, Lucy, play her last game of the soccer season. She did really well. This is her first year to play and she is really enjoying the sport. It's a beautiful day to get out and watch the kids play. Our temps should go to 78 today. We do have rain in the forecast for tomorrow and a cold front coming through and will drop the temps back down to 32 degrees. Mother Nature can't make up her mind!

Vicksburg On The Hunt

Vicksburg resident Dyland Wooten caught his monster 12-pound bass while fishing in Edwards, MS, on March 21.

Caleb Larsen bagged his first deer, a spike buck, in Claiborne County on January 25. He made the 225-yard shot with a .243 rifle 130-pound deer. He is the son of Rusty and Stephanie Larsen of Vicksburg.

Victoria Daily, 10, shot her first turkey on March 19 while hunting in Claiborne County. The gobbler had an 11 1/4-inch beard, and was taken down with a 20-gauge shotgun from 17 yards away. Victoria is the daughter of Dan and Miriam Daily. Congrats to all our hunters in the great wild outdoors! Charming, Just Charming!

What A Waste

I had a friend of mine from CamoSpace, SwietsRick, to send me this picture the other day by email. I asked him what was the story behind this really nice buck. He said that actually a guy found it in his cornfield while bird hunting. Apparently, someone had shot it...but was not a good shot and died days later. What a waste!

Our 21st Wedding Anniversary

Today, Bob and I are celebrating our 21st Wedding Anniversary. We got married Easter evening on April 3, 1988. Chris put this picture of us on my Facebook the other day when he came across it looking through a photo album. It was taken when we attended the wedding of his brother-in-law, Billy, on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in July 1995, two months before Bob had his stroke. Chris was instrumental in building my website, A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter, while he was attending college at Mississippi State. He help me make my dream come true of having my very own site. He and his wife Elaine and two children are living in Chelsea, Alabama now. As far as Bob and I, we are hopefully looking forward to having many more years together.

PS: I called in our anniversary earlier this morning to Radio Station, River 101, and we just won! Our names were picked out of three anniversaries. We will get a free meal at Horizon Casino, Bouquet of Flowers and a night stay at Diamond Jacks Hotel/Casino. We just hit the jackpot!
