As Bob and I pulled into the Louisiana Circle yesterday afternoon to check out the river traffic we saw the Towboat Dennis C. Bottorff, Ingram Barge Co., just sitting in the river. I have seen towboats slow down but not come to a complete stop. He could have been ordering supplies to be delivered after he passes under the bridges. Usually this is the case from just watching the traffic.
Here is a pull out view from the Louisiana Circle. Below is part of the Vicksburg Riverfront Park with Diamond Jacks Casino to the right.
It's a beautiful afternoon to be at the Vicksburg Riverfront Park for the kiddies. Check out the Kudzu crawling all over the hillside.
Towboat slowly making the turn in the river.
Cranking it up to move on down the river.
Smaller tugboat headed to the Yazoo Diversion Canal that runs by downtown Vicksburg to the Port of Vicksburg. Notice another tugboat to the right waiting to push an empty barge through the canal. Diamonds Jacks Casino in the foreground.
Looking down at the playground for the kids.
Tugboat pushing one unloaded barge towards the Yazoo Diversion Canal to the Port of Vicksburg. Top roof of Diamond Jacks is in the foreground.
Dennis C. Bottorff Towboat pushing the barges pass the Louisiana Circle overlook at Vicksburg, MS.
Making its way towards the bridges while the sun is getting ready to set.
As I stepped off the curb to get back in the truck I looked up and saw the moon rising. I wished I could have been a few minutes earlier and the moon would have been sitting on the grass on big hill behind me.
Dennis C. Bottorff towboat making its way downriver. The small boat may be getting ready to supply the boat with groceries. Ameristar Casino is to the far left.
