Public Enemy Number One!
Jarratt Hahn, a law enforcement officer, has been having a great year trying to trap and kill these nasty hogs between his land and his neighbors. Jarratt lives in White Sand, Mississippi and caught over 150. Here are a few photos taken this year and commented that it still doesn't look like he put a dent in the population.
Hogs are all over Mississippi and they tear up gardens, food plots, and crops. They are very hearty aminals and very resilient. They multiply like mosquitoes.
Jim Walker with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks describes them as "public enemy number one."
Congrats to Jarratt in trying to eradicate these annoying hogs in our great wild Mississippi outdoors.

Tomato Place Luncheon
Johnette and I had an enjoyable BLT with a guacamole sandwich, sweet tea and homemade bread pudding for dessert at The Tomato Place for lunch. It's a beautiful breezy clear blue sunny day. Tomorrow will be a different story with rain forecast from the tropical storm, IRMA.
An elderly couple came in and I overheard the waitress asked where they were from and they said Florida. They had come this far to get away and live in the Tampa Bay area. They were leaving Wednesday to try to get back home. We wished them safe travels on their way back from the worst weather disaster to ever hit our homeland.
Watermelons for sale.
Delicious varieties of smoothies.
Love this bike with all bright neon lights hanging on the wall.
Beautiful picture on the wall of Blessed Mother.
Flowers that hummingbirds like.
Gators too!
A very tall bottle tree!
The Boiled Peanuts Shack!
Outer feeder bands coming in from the tropical storm, IRMA while leaving The Tomato Place.

A Queenly Visit Today In My Hometown
The American Queen moored near the trees at the waterfront from early this morning until she left around 1:30. She will be back next Wednesday, September 13th for a full day to tour our historic civil war town of Vicksburg, MS.
A tugboat passing by pushing empty containers to the Port of Vicksburg.
All Aboard!! American Queen in all her glory getting ready to depart with her passengers.
Taken near the edge of Yazoo Diversion Canal before she left on a beautiful cool and nice clear day.
The American Queen' s staff putting chairs away on their buses that had accommodated passengers.
The American Queen turning around in the Yazoo Diversion Canal earlier this afternoon heading north to a destination of Helena, Arkansas on the Mississippi River with her passengers. The Captain can either turn around in the canal, go to the Port of Vicksburg or backs out.

Labor Day Sunset Pix & Boudreaux
Yesterday evening after visiting my sister and brother-in-law for Labor Day, I made my way to the Mighty Mississippi River to take some pictures of the sunset.
The bridges Old Hwy 80 with U.S. Flag atop and I-20 bridge at Vicksburg, MS.
Two bridge spans over the MS River.
Up close picture of a hazy lazy sun.
Pulled back of the sun going down with a reflection in the Mighty MS River.
I like the Zeke effect!
Got to visit with Boudreaux, a Boxer. He belongs to my nephew Joey Ables.
I had an enjoyable Labor Day and hope you did too! Boudreaux is a good boy!

RIP Harvey #126
My Facebook hunting friend, Kareen Beinhauer of Alpine, TX, took down a big hog early this morning at 1:05 and in her own words her hog story.
I was out a little before 9:00 p.m. last night. Javelinas came in and left and I even got to see a cow elk but I scared her off with the clicking of my camera on my phone. Pretty darn neat! Time went on and all of the Javelinas left and quite sometime later one lone javelina came in and left after about 15 minutes. At this point, I was getting frustrated because I did not kill one hog in August! I thought I was jinxed but then......I could hear hogs squealing in the creek and I could hear them coming and then I saw them. They came in and the feeding frenzy began and there was Harvey! I could not get a good shot at first and then they spooked and ran off and slowly came back in. I told myself to be patient, that Harvey would come back too and sure enough, he did. I finally got a clear shot at him and took it. At first, I thought I had missed as there was so much dirt flying around from the other hogs running off. But as the dirt settled I could see Harvey doing his death dance and let me tell you I was so excited!! He is pretty darn big. Roy (hubby) said he would even skin him out so I could take him to the taxidermist to get him mounted as I don't have a mounted hog head!! I hope I can sleep and as always, pictures will follow although they really don't do him justice. I almost couldn't get him set up because he is so heavy.
Congratulations to Kareen on her BIG HOG (to be mounted) kill in the great state of Texas! Awesomeness!

Harvey weighed in at 258 pounds, a good size for where she lives, she said. She took him to headquarters where her husband got his head off and took it to a taxidermy. This makes Kareen's #126 hog kill.
Congratulations to Kareen on her BIG HOG (to be mounted) kill in the great state of Texas! Awesomeness!
