Down On The Farm @ Vicksburg, Mississippi

I went down to my Granddaughter (Victoria) and hubby's (Jamie)  farm yesterday for a visit and to see my Great Grandson Ian.  It was so good to see my family and really enjoyed them taking me around the farm so I could take pictures and pet all the animals.

What a pretty horse!

Meeting us at the main gate!

I guess goats will eat anything off of wildflowers.

A happy donkey!

A pretty poney by the name of Sally!

Time to eat!

Love the reflection of the horse named "Scratch" in the puddle of water.

Two cows and two calves.

Can you believe Turbo and Bill Bill are playmates!

Look at Bill Bill go!  He's showing off!

Victoria holding a chicken for me to pet!

A bunny rabbit named, Honey!

Eating time for the goats!

Grandson Ian making Turbo bark at Bill Bill!

A donkey eating some grass!

Some farm equipment lined up against the fence near a field full of beautiful yellow wildflowers.  I really enjoyed myself and look forward to returning and bring my fishing pole to go fishing in our great wild and wonderful Mississippi outdoors!

A Stud Deadhead

Muley Pursuit on Facebook posted a stud deadhead that Corey Koski found.  How long do you think he has been lying there?

That is an amazing Elk head that Corey found.  I would think it has laid there for at least 1-2 years.

I'm surprised that the rodents have not chewed on it.  A great find for anyone in our wild and wonderful outdoors.  Way to go Corey!

Pond Trail Cam In 2018

I noticed a while ago that wildlife seem to come down to our pond in one particular spot to get a drink. I decided to put a camera out in the pond to face that spot to see what I could capture. This is a sampling of some of the wildlife I was able to get on camera. I pretty diverse selection I would say. I'm very lucky to have so much wildlife around.

Man Finds Baby Bears Dancing Like Children

Valtteri Mulkahainen was exploring the lush green forests around the Finnish town of Martinselkonen when he stumbled upon a group of bears in a clearing ahead of him.

He saw three baby bear cubs and a mother bear nearby. He was roughly 150 feet away from the animals and stayed as hidden as possible to see what could possibly unfold. It was a daring risk but he is very comfortable outdoors and it paid off big time.

Seeing a bear in the wild is a treat in itself but seeing baby bear cubs is especially rare and something not many people get to experience. If anyone does see baby bear cubs, their very protective mother is usually very close.

Momma bear was walking around foraging for a snack while the baby bears did what baby bears do best. Valtteri said “the cubs behaved like little children. They were playing and even started a few friendly fights. I felt like I was on a playground in front of my house, where small children frolic around. That’s how much they reminded me of little children. At one point, the three of them got up on their hind legs and started pushing each other. It was like they were dancing in a circle.”

These little bear cubs started an adorable dance party out in the woods! Of course not thinking anyone was watching let alone taking pictures! Valtteri was in for a treat and lucky for us, he captured the entire experience with his camera.

I love that mama bear is standing by while her little cubs have the best day ever dancing and playing in the woods.

Valtteri stated that he stayed with the bear family all day and into the night photographing them and studying their playful behavior.

These little guys might have been too busy playing and dancing to notice but I wouldn’t want to be there if momma bear caught a scent of me.

Valtteri lives in a wildlife paradise and it would be hard not to adventure with a camera every single day. I can see why this is such an important hobby for him.

It proves that young bears are just like young children who just want to play, eat and nap.

Absolutely adorable!  How lucky Valtteri was to capture these cute baby bear cubs!  This is something that a professional photographers dream of and this P. E. teacher from Finland stumble upon it.  My congratulations to him in our great wild and wonderful outdoors!  Way to go Valtteri!

Wyoming Trail Cam Footage

Videos from trail cameras provide a non-invasive tool for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Large Carnivore Section to monitor wolf activity and pack composition without causing a disturbance. Deploying cameras near wolf den and rendezvous sites often yield excellent data because the sites are the center of wolf pack activity in spring as summer as they cooperatively raise pups. In late summer 2019, Large Carnivore Section personnel stationed a camera at a wolf den after the pack had moved from the site assuming the pack would revisit the den during their subsequent travels. The camera captured interesting behavior from both adult wolves (collared) and pups (uncollared) when they revisited the den, and also recorded the presence and behavior of 7 additional wildlife species.

Thursday Rodeo @ Vicksburg, MS

This was taken by my Facebook friend, Paul Ingram this morning who lives high on the bluffs of my hometown of Vicksburg, Mississippi.  This happens on the Mighty Mississippi here when the towboats hit the two bridges going north/southbound but mainly southbound with the fast current.  Lady Luck Casino and Hotel is in the foreground.

Click here to see the video that Paul recorded.

The Old Mississippi River Bridge at Vicksburg was struck by barges this morning at around 7:34 a.m.
Warren County Bridge Superintendent Herman Smith said the Motor Vessel Jason W. Nyberg was southbound when the collision occurred. The barges struck pier 4 on the 92-year-old structure.
The Nyberg was pushing 10 empty and two loaded tank barges, and the collision caused the tow to break apart. Vessels from Ergon Marine responded and captured the barges south of the Vicksburg bridges. No barges sank as the result of the incident, and there have been no reported injuries.
Smith added that train traffic has been halted on the Old Vicksburg Bridge until a bridge engineer can complete inspection for damage.
The Nyberg is owned by Marquette Transportation of Paducah, Ky.

He shot it in God's country in Flora Mississippi on 12/22/19 at 1:30 pm sitting on a tree in the rain.  Check out that smile!

Up On The Rooftop!

Megan Resoff of Kodiak, Alaska posted this recently on Facebook and wanted to share it with you, if you did not see it.

She said her dad heard noises on his roof today and the neighbor told him, hey you have a deer on your roof.  Thanks to his neighbor for the picture.

"Up On The Rooftop, Click, Click, Click."

The deer got down safely because his back neighbors yard is leveled to his roof.
