Gabby, Emma & Kate

My daughter, Suzi sent me this cute picture recently of their dog Gabby with my granddaughters Emma and little Kate in their car.  Looks like Gabby is so happy to be in the car with them.  I love this picture of all three in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  My how I miss my family there.  Hopefully, when this pandemic is over with I can fly up to see them again and play with all three.  xoxo  Gran Gran

Another Hog Down For The Queen Of Hogs, Kareen!

Kareen's new 350 Legend that her hubby wanted her to try a bolt action and she really likes it.

A couple of days ago my Facebook friend, Kareen sat out and killed her another hog.  She is on a roll and I wanted to congratulate her on getting rid of those nasty ole hogs in our great wild and wonderful Texas outdoors.  Way to go Kareen and here is her hog story in her own words.

I was out by 10:00 p.m. and I figured nothing would come in. I went to sit out at the deer feeder where the small sounder was coming in. SD card showed the 3 smaller hogs coming in and then two bigger sows would come in later if all was clear. Just some coons showed up but later as I was watching them they ran off like they heard something and sure enough, the 3 smaller hogs showed up. A bigger sow came in but ran off and then she came back in so I waited until she turned so
I could get a good lung shot because I wanted to see what the 350 Legend would do. Took my shot and I knew I had hit something because of all of the dirt flying. I also had to turn the red dot down so I could see because at first, it was too bright. I went to see what was down and she was still breathing so I put another one in her. I love my new rifle! Roy asked me if I could feel the recoil and I told him I didn't feel it at all because that is not what I am focused on but I think this is going to be a good fit for me. I will like it when the scope gets here though, I like it better than the red dot. Pictures to follow, number 8 for the year, # 178 total, Woo Hoo! Shot her at 12:29 a.m.

Hunter Foster's buck mount harvested in Benton County, MS.  I love this deer mount!  Different!

Steven Harvey's buck he harvested in Madison County on the Big Black River.  Gross Score: 155.

Johnny Lin's archery buck he got back 2019-2020 season on public land.  Gross Score: 154

Matt Ashcraft's buck harvested in Alcorn County, Cornith, MS.

Jeff Herrington's harvested this very nice 13-point buck in Noxubee County some years back trailing a doe in January.  The mount was done by Jays in Quitman, MS.

Kareen "The Hog Queen" Got Lucky!

My Facebook friend, Kareen Beinhauer had good luck night before last hog hunting in Alpine, Texas.  In her own words, this is what she had to say about her hunt.

I haven't been posting about the hogs because I have been having so much bad luck with them lately. SD cards showed that boar that I have been playing cat and mouse with showing up at almost midnight. I got to the blind about 10:35 p.m. and sure enough, I could see a hog running off. Crap! I still went to sit out and figured I would see nothing. Coons came in and one buck. It was getting close to the time that I would leave and then all of a sudden he was there. I could not believe it! At that moment in time I don't feel the weight of the rifle or anything else. I am just focused on putting the scope on my sight and I did and pulled the trigger and down he went! I am so freaking happy!

Hog #177

My congratulations to my hog hunting friend in our great wild and wonderful Texas outdoors!  Way to go, Kareen!

HAMMOCK BEARS - Video 1

*A Momma black bear and her two cubs play on a hammock.* At long last, here is the Hammock Bears video that I promised. I'm so jazzed that there's a lot more where this video came from, too. Keep an eye out. I’ll be posting more. This video may be my favorite of the lot because of the various hilariously anthropomorphic poses that the Momma Bear strikes. She is quite the character, isn’t she? And she’s brilliantly playful, too. I have compiled lots of bear family footage over the years, and I’ve never seen a Momma Bear be quite so playful with her cubs before. It’s a joy to witness. Watching this series is a bit like watching a three-ring circus. I can always find something new to enjoy with each viewing. I hope the same thing happens to you, too. If you enjoy this video even half as much as I do, then you’ll find that life is indeed very good, at least for 3 minutes at a time. :-) This footage is from a series of videos I’ve taken in the garden of my Western North Carolina mountain home. I have captured footage of other bears playing with this same hammock, as well. It seems our place has become quite a popular hang-out. It’s likely this video series has spoiled me for any other critter-cam footage I may capture in the future. Not that I mind, though. My heart is full! Thank you, Momma Bear and Cubs, for bringing much-needed laughter into this world. © 2018 Amy D. White Fairewood Studios, LLC
