A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

RR Depot @ Vicksburg

The Yazoo & Mississippi Valley RR Station going under water.  I found out that water was trickling through a manhole near the newly raised floodgates.  As you can see the Yazoo Diverson Canal is creeping up at it's back door.

Keep them coming and stay dry!

Thanks Editor - A lot of history in the making here in Vicksburg! We are only 8 blocks from the River but high on a bluff and down in a valley so we should stay pretty dry! Thanks for dropping by! :)

A sad thing to see, ravages of the river. Hoping things can get cleaned up and restoration back on track when the water passes.

I hope all your utility services stay available for you.

We should be alright utility wise but north and south of town will have problems...of course, there is always unforeseen problems. We just want to get through this and back to our lives.
