My classmate since the first grade, Myrtle Loviza Curro and Robert Joseph Alvarado Jr., both of Vicksburg, were married at 3:30 p.m. on June 21, 2008, at St. Michael Catholic Church. A reception was held at 5:00 p.m. at the B'nai B'rith Literary Club. All friends and relatives were invited to attend the nuptial Mass and reception.
The bride is the daughter of the late John Joseph and Mabel Harris Loviza of Vicksburg.
The groom is the son of the late Robert Joseph and Marian Crowley Alvarado of Vicksburg.
The Rev. P. J. Curley and Monsignor Patrick Farrell officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her sons, Joseph Curro, Christopher Curro, Gregory Curro and Jerome Curro.
Matron of honor was Blanche Loviza Irby, sister of the bride, of Madison, AL.
The groom's son, Tony Alvarado of Anchorage, Alaska, served as best man.
Readers were Lynn Alvarado Foley, daughter of the groom; Joanne Vedros Wright, niece of the bride; and Warren Doiron.
Acolytes were Michael Foley and Matthew Foley, grandsons of the groom. Eucharistic ministers were Mike and Mary Vedros Stewart, niece of the bride.
Ashley Foley, granddaughter of the groom, served as soloist.
Gift bearers were Elizabeth Alvarado and Olivia Alvarado, granddaughters of the groom, and Aaron Curro, grandson of the bride. For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to New Orleans, LA, and later next month will take an Alaskan Cruise. They will make their home in Vicksburg, where they are both retired.
