Locally grown produce was in abundance Saturday morning at the grand opening and was a rousing success. Tomatoes, sweet corn, beans, squash, cucumbers, peppers, greens, peaches, cantaloupe, fresh herbs, baked goods, plants, cut flowers and live music by bluegrass band Rocky Springs entertained. Also, the Highway 61 Coffee Shop served coffee to those who needed caffeine to get their early start in the parking lot east of the Levee Street Depot. It featured 20 vendors, making it larger than the Jackson and Oxford markets. The estimated crowd was around 600 people. It will return every Saturday through September 13. This is a sweetthing for the City of Vicksburg.

I always enjoy our local farmers market. I'm not sure when ours starts this year. I think normally towards the end of June.
My of all the good things going on at the Farmer's Market in Vicksburg.
The Farmer's Market in Des Moines has grown over the years but I have yet to get there. I used to be a vendor at our local one, seven years ago now...
