Let The Good Times Roll

According to The Vicksburg Post today our Latin Carnivale brought a sizzle to an otherwise chilly Saturday afternoon in downtown Vicksburg as thousands flocked to catch beads and baubles thrown fom passing floats in the 9th Annual Mardi Gras parade.  Sponsored by Vicksburg Main Street Program, the parade featuring a Latin theme drew nearly 4,000 people who lined Washington Street from Belmont to Jackson streets.  Revelers braved 35-degree temps and cloudy skies to see a row of floats decked in purple, green and yellow that began rolling at 2:00 p.m.  Organizers said turnout was not exactly what they had hoped for and cited the cold weather and the remnants of a rare snowstorm that dumped 6.5 inches of the white stuff on Vickburg on Friday.  Everybody had a good time and was a good turnout regardless.

On the way to the parade we passed by this snowman that was in a Mardi Gras mood!

Police patroling to keep everyone safe.

This was a good one!

Bob waiting for the next float...he was really enjoying the parade.

A nice guy throwing candy, baubles and beads from the balcony above us.

My friend, Ken, holding onto Hobbs.  He had to get in on the act too!
