Navy Circle at Vicksburg

Their are two circles where you can view the MS River at Vicksburg.  One is the Louisiana Circle that  I posted about recently and the other one closest to the bridges is the Navy Circle.  In this picture you can see the bend in the river and Ameristar Casino in it's cofferdam.  Navy Circle was where, when I was a lot younger and dating, a great place to hang out.  Now both circles are closed after dark. 

A view of many sandbars that pop up when the river levels go down.  This is near the bend in the river in Lousisiana.  When I was younger, would go to Louisiana and go to the sandbars and actually swim in the river.  I would not do that today!   At our old hunting camp, Brown's Point, further up the MS River on Kings Point Island, we would ride our 4-wheelers which was so much fun.  I really missed those days!

I zoomed in and got a shot of the flag atop the bridge that is changed out every few months by people who donate the flag to be flown.  A very nice gesture that was started by a lady here in Vicksburg years ago.
