This past Wednesday, Grant, shot his first deer, a very nice 8 point buck! My Class of 1959 classmate, Walter, sent me a picture of his proud grandson yesterday. Walter's son has a deer camp in Lowndes County, west of Montgomery, Alabama, where the deer was bagged this past Wednesday. This is a great birthday present for Grant since he just turned 13 years old. My congrats to Grant who is now hooked for life on being a hunter in our great wild outdoors.

Thanks for posting this, Marian. He sure is proud, and he can recount every moment of it, especially the nice doe he let pass in hopes of a buck. He wants to mount the trophy in his room so it is the first thing he sees when he gets up every morning.
Thanks DeanO - it's always exciting to see a youngster get his/her first deer. That is something you will never ever forget! :)
You are so welcome Walter...my pleasure. I'm so happy for him and like I said...he will never ever forget that day. I had my first one mounted also and was a 6-pt. buck! :)
That's great! Hooked for life! (-: Jack

Got everything ready...now the baking starts! Merry Christmas my friend! :)
Way to go Grant, congratulations.
Thanks Rick...you can tell he is one happy hunter! :)
Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend! :)
You both are proud grandparents! Am I right, Marian? --You for Ethan and Walter for Grant. Hehe. Are they of the same age? Anyway, they say that most first time experiences are exciting! Sure enough, Grant’s and Ethan’s first deer hunting experiences are memorable not only for them, but for both “grandparents” as well. ;)
