Stories of my hunting experiences with family, friends or whatever else I want to blog about.

A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

My congrats to the Gatorslayers!  The team broke another record of 741.5 pounds, 13 feet, 6.5 inches long near Port Gibson, MS.

Congrats to Dalco Turner, John Ratcliff, Jennifer Ratcliff and Jimmy Greer for the capture of this monster gator in our great wild outdoors!

Note:  Someone commented on Facebook's Miss 103 that they heard on Good Morning America this morning that Nightline tonight is going to be about Mississippi tracking the gators in the swamps!  It comes on ABC at 11:37 CST. So stay tune!

This just in from Louisiana...

Last weekend's Gator hunt with Supreme Court Justice Scalia...the gator was wrapped around a log and Drew and the crew thought his head was wrapped tighter to it than it actually was while trying to get the Justice a clean shot.  The gator quickly proved otherwise!  He did end up shooting the gator.

You all seem to be growing them bigger and bigger each year down there. That thing looks like it should be in a science fiction movie.
