Stories of my hunting experiences with family, friends or whatever else I want to blog about.

A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

SAR - Search and Rescue

"Our Family Serving Your Family"

This 43 year old Lufkin, Texas blogger loves the outdoors so much that not only is he an avid hunter but also a volunteer for SAR, a Hudson Fire Department K-9 Search and Rescue team since 1984.  He calls himself a "SARs" junkie!  He tells stories as an insider of the unsung heroes who wait patiently for the next call to come to help others in time of need.  His occupation is in law enforcement.  He has a 9 year old son that he takes fishing, camping and hunting and teaches him just as his Dad taught him.  He harvested his first deer when he was only 10 years old and he still can see the smile on his father's face and will never forget that day.  He also has a hunting blog called, Hunting Texas Public Land and proudly displays our Outdoor Bloggers Summit banner.  Go over and check out his two blogs and follow him throughout the great outdoors of hunting and of searching and rescuing.
