Hunting At Kennison Creek

Got to the camp around 8:45 and waited inside for my brother-in-law, Chris, to come out of the woods.  He has a Geo-Tracker and we took off headed to a deer stand near the power line on the east side.  I did not know that they had land behind the camp and also off of Hwy 61 South to the east and west.  He put me on a deer stand and he hunted down from where Bob had hunted last week.  We got off around 2:00 and neither one of us saw a deer so we headed back to the camp for a short break,  The next stand he put me on was on the west side.  As we were driving almost a mile and a half back up into the woods we jumped a young buck that was lying near a four-wheeler that they keep in this area, next to the swamp, to pull deer out if it gets too muddy.  He put me in a tent stand that was built up on a platform attached to a trailer.  You could also drive your 4-wheeler on it if you planned to move the whole thing to another area he said.  Chris and another guy built it and was in a very good area with lots of acorns.  Chris left and went to the other side of the swamp to hunt.  He said he saw a shooter right before dark, that was feeding, but could not get him to come closer by using his call.  It was too far to shoot and was in a food plot in the distance.  I did not see anything but around 5:20, I heard a twig snap but nothing walked out.  I did see some ducks flying near me and enjoyed watching them.  There is a slough that the duck hunters hunt and it's plentiful.  He invited my husband and I both, within the next couple of weeks, to hunt for a day during muzzleloading season that will last until the end of January.  It sure was great to be outside in the wild outdoors!

East and west side that borders Deer Park, Shiloh and Blue Buck Hunting Clubs

Deer stand I hunted off of near power line.

To the left where Chris hunted up from me.

To the right...deer cross right behind the first pole.

Nice size deer scrape.

Buck leaving a scent on branch above the scrape.

Looking out in front of me where I saw the ducks.  Noticed the bent over tree to the far left.

To the left...

To the right where I came in.

Behind me.

Chris took a picture of me with his camera standing beside the stand and you can see what I was talking about.  It's somewhat different!
