“..Not to leave the ‘bird watcher’s’ wanting..”I just received this from Dennis, a friend, this morning, and it truly is remarkable just how this woman is able to get as close as she does to these very wary birds, let alone get them to light on her hands and arms.
“This is something I have never seen before, or ever even heard of. This lady lives in a Hummingbird fly zone. As they migrated, about 20 of them were in her yard. She took the little red dish, filled it with sugar water and this is the result. The woman is Abigail Alfano, of Pine, Louisiana, and she has been studying them daily and one morning put the cup from the feeder, with water in it, in her hand; as they had gotten used to her standing by the feeder they came over to her hand. She says in touching they are as light as a feather. Abigail also said, 'if she had known her husband was taking pictures she would have put on makeup.” This is so cool in our great outdoors!

They "swarm" in the Colorado mountains and you can get them to land on you fairly easily. I can spend hours watching them!
These are very cool pictures Marian. I like hummingbirds and been attracting to our house for years but have yet to capture on with the camera.

Love the pictures! Yes, we have repeat hummingbirds from year to year. They will announce their return to the timber by buzzing us to let us know they are home...Funny how they will share the oriole feeder without to many problems.
They are really fun to watch!

We don't put out a feeder, but when we run the sprinklers in the backyard - a must in arid California - the hummingbirds zoom in for a little drive-by bathing.

These are very cool pictures. I can't believe she gets them to come and feed out of her hand.
We have tons of them that come to our feeders that hang right in front of our giant den window, so you can stand right by them to watch. I am going to have to try doing it by hand... that looks so cool.
