Here's an update on the flooding in Vicksburg....
LeTourneau (producer of offshore oil rigs) has laid off 1,165 (welders) employees because the river has rose over LeTourneau Road (south of town) forcing the plant to lay off 1,300-person work force and the Yazoo backwater has threaten crops. The Mississippi River is to crest at 49.3 feet on Sunday. As of yesterday it was 48.7 feet. It rose 0.3 foot. The flood stage is 43 feet. An estimated 200,000 acres of cropland is already under water inside the levee system north of town. Warren County officials closed LeTourneau Road yesterday morning and will not be able to get people to its production facility on the MS until the river falls back below Tuesday's stage of 48.4 feet, which may be a week to 10 days. I saw on the news the other day where deer at Tara Wildlife were all huddle together trying to stay on higher ground (levee) north of town. The road going to Tara has been closed due to flooding over the road. With more rain forecast for this evening and tomorrow it want help the flooding situation. Again we are bracing for some more bad weather.

WOW! I figured y'all were gonna catch it and no doubt it will be pretty bad on down stream also. Can you get some pictures from the look out station at the greeting center for us?
That is just awful. I hope you all soon get some relief. Mark and I send our prayers.
I'll think good thoughts for everyone in your area, Marian. That sounds kind of scary. Here's hoping the bad weather bypasses you and the river goes down.
Sure GuyK was planning on taking more pictures...They have closed the entrance and exit of the floodwalls downtown. People are taking lots of pics because never seen it this high.
Kristine - so far the bad weather has bypassed us..we may get rain but the worse will be more to the north of MS where Rex lives. Thanks for coming by...you too, GuyK.
Thanks hunter's wife...the mighty Mississippi is in full force and it's now over with...thanks for coming by.
Well hopefully you and Rex come out of this weather mess nice and safe. Sounds pretty crazy down there.
I was in southwest Tennessee, northwest Mississippi last week and I couldn't believe the amount of water that was there.
Hope everything turns out fine for everyone involved.
