A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

Wild Hog & Buck Ride

Pictured above is our hunting friends, Trent and Rex Howell, on the edge of the MS Delta at their famous Christmas Place Plantation and Hunting Club, Thanksgiving weekend.

Rex is showing off his very nice Rochester Redback hog and his brother, Trent, with his very nice buck!  Go over to Rex's blog, Deer Camp Blog, to read this hilarious story of how they both hunted together at the lake and then try to get all this meat back to the camp by taking a Mississippi Boat Ride!  My congrats to both on their wild/ride harvest in our great outdoors!  Way to go guys!

That was a great story. I told Frank that Rex and him have the same philosophy to keep shooting until all movement stops :)

I saw that JDP on Facebook...I think that is a great idea. If I ever get a chance to get one...I would do the same thing! :)

That's great about getting a hog...did you bring your camera? I can't live without mine. Will come by soon to check on you and your dogs! :)
