A Dixie Lady Deer Hunter

Article by Fred Messina, editor of "On Target Outdoors" from The Vicksburg Evening Post on Friday, January 19, 1990. Photo by Bob Phillips.

Bob Phillips came up the other day with a photo of his wife Marian and a deer she got on Brown's Point New Years Eve. The deer was an 8-point with 16 inches of inside spread that weighed in at 190 pounds. A nice trophy in anyone's book. However, the tale Bob told is that this was Marian's fourth deer this year and he claimed that he would have done better than he did if he had not spent so much time hauling Marian's deer out of the woods. Come off it, Bob. We all know who the hunter was.

Tornado Watch For Our Area

Looks like we will be in for some bad weather now until 6:00 this afternoon.  We are under a tornado watch and the storm will soon be crossing the MS River here at Vicksburg.  The temp is 76.4 degrees and suppose to be 40 degrees by tonight. That is a huge drop in temperatures.  Also, winds may reach up to 40 to 45 miles during the storm.  I will be so glad when 6:00 comes and the front has passed. Hopefully, we will be spared from any damaging winds, etc.

We're on the wait for it here too. Looks like it could be bad. Already really really dark here and windy as crazy!

Looks like Jackson may get hit pretty hard Betty...hang on!

Good to be back online Jack and looks like we made it through the worse of it. Lights flickered but most of the bad stuff has moved out of Vicksburg.
