Making Bridges @ Flood Stage
I am so fascinated by towboats pushing barges up and down the Mississippi River at my hometown of Vicksburg. I enjoy taking pictures at our two overlook circles and zoom in to get the name of the towboat pushing the barges. This video was posted the other day on Vicksburg News on Facebook by my friend, Charles Bell, and by his Twitter friend heading downriver. I think this is the coolest video and you can get a view of what is seen as the pilot approaches the bridges trying to maneuver between the spans. 20 barges broke loose last week when it hit one of the I-20 spans. One barge is still partially sunk against the bridge span. I will try to get by the Mississippi Welcome Center and take a picture of it. As you view the video, Ameristar and Diamond Jacks Casinos are on the left and Louisiana on the right. After passing under the bridges you can see Baxter Wilson Steam Electric plant.
