A gator in Georgia that lived near a community....
Couple of gator pictures that fossilman posted at The Huntin Lodge yesterday. Picture here shows a gator in Texas. Yes, it's hauling a deer off in its mouth!

That Texas gator picture was taken over Lake Houston, probably 3 years ago. The lake is now in the city limits.
I grew up fishing and hunting around there and never saw one up close. They were protected then and we didn't hunt them.
I have seen both of those photos before. The large hanging gator was reported (on one website) to have been killed between Athens and Palestine, TX. I deer hunted in that general area for fifteen years.
I posted the same pictures and the story on my blog about a year ago. The pictures have been allocated to many different locations and it took quite a bit research to find out the real location and story behind them.
This is an exceptionally large alligator and not one I would like to see in the same body of water where I fish. (lol)
That alligator is huge. Is that a real picture? Wow! I live up in the north free of gators. We have a few snapping turles and some snakes that scare me but that gator would maybe keep me in my house. Chris

The deer eating gator is from Ga and not Texas. Photos were taken in 2004 I did a story on it back in 2006 which I'm including the link.

If you go there you'll find a link to the actual US Fish & Wildlife Press Release about this gator.
