Vicksburg On The Hunt

Kayla Cook is all smiles after killing her first deer, a 225-pound, 8-pointer she harvested on December 15 in eastern Warren County. She and her dad, Brad Cook, were hunting together and watched as the buck walked about 300 yards across a field before she made the 160-yard shot just as he was about to step out of sight. She had to make sure the gun stock and scope of the .243 rifle was just right.

Lee Simpson stands beside his first kill he had while hunting with his father, Sherman, on January 5. He bagged the doe with a .243 rifle from abut 50 yards away. Always nice to kill the first one, right Lee?

Jay Harper bagged this nice 225-pound, 8-point buck while hunting on private land. The spread was 19-1/2 inches and the overall score was a 130. Congratulations to all our young deer hunters.
